Q-to-InDesign Batch user manual

Fully automatic conversion

Q-to-InDesign Batch provides you with the possibility of automatically converting your old Quark Xpress and Adobe PageMaker files into Adobe InDesign format. Q-to-InDesign Batch uses InDesign’s build-in conversion system but automates the process.

File search

By marking the square next to Include QuarkXPress, you decide whether or not you want to convert QuarkXPress files, and by doing the same with Include Adobe PageMaker you decide whether or not to convert Adobe PageMaker files.

Log file

By marking the square next to Create Log File, you decide if you want Q-to-InDesign Batch to set up a log file. Later, this log file will be able to tell you if the files have been converted correctly. On a Windows computer the log file is placed in C:Batchlog/txt. On a Macintosh computer the log file is placed in the InDesign program folder.

How to use Q-to-InDesign Batch

Enter the menu plug-ins. Under the heading Cacidi you choose Q-to-InDesign Batch 2.0. Select which files to search and whether or not you want to create a log file and then press OK. Q-to-InDesign Batch provides you with the possibility of creating a start folder or disc. Press Select and Q-to-InDesign Batch will now search the start folder as well as all subfolders and subfolders.

Register Q-to-InDesign Batch using Registration Tool

For 14 days, Q-to-InDesign Batch functions as a demo version. After this period, you will have to type in a serial number before using it again. By means of the Registration Tool, you can key in your name, company and serial number. You will find the Cacidi Registration Tool in Mac OS 9: in InDesign's help menu. Mac OSX: in InDesign's InDesign menu. Windows: in InDesign's help menu. under the heading About Cacidi Plug-ins.

Key in serial number and name

First, choose Q-to-InDesign Batch Pro 2.0 in the pop-up menu. If Q-to-InDesign Batch is your first Cacidi plug-in for InDesign, type in name and company. Then, type in serial number consisting of four columns with numbers and only numbers (for instance 9999-9999-9999-9999). Do not type in the hyphens. Press the OK button.

Q-to-InDesign Batch provides you with the possibility of creating accurate crop and bleed marks on any object.

Install Plug-ins

Q-to-InDesign Batch consists of a plug-in creating your crop marks and a plug-in providing you with the possibility of typing in your serial number and name. Pull the Batch.pln and idiserial.pln files into the Plug-ins” folder. You will find the Plug-ins folder in the same folder as the InDesign program.

Pull the Batch.pln and Cacidiserial.pln files into the Plug-ins folder and restart InDesign.
