Digitizes your Films to the Dot!
Your anticipation comes to an end with RepliDot 1.0
Introducing RepliDot 1.0; a revolutionary Adobe® Photoshop® Plug-In® that converts traditional separation films into high-quality digital files for integration in today’s all-digital workflow, such as CTP.
Until now, users have had limited options:
• Either to buy dedicated scanner with special software
• Or to scan separations on his own scanner and loose major highlight and shadow info
• Create a proof from the film separations for further rescanning
RepliDot responds to strong market needs by using Adaptive Threshold Technology within the most popular photo-editing software. Through calibration utilities based on your scanner and your film characteristics, this innovative software solution reliably transforms any greyscale-scanned image (of halftone films) into high-quality digital bitmap
files.
RepliDot’s simple interface allows you to create correction tables that suit your own scanner from a calibration target generated on your imagesetter. This process introduces a precise level of correction to account for tint, while conserving sharp edges of text. The end result is the ability to reproduce and align C, M, Y, K films and to create a high-quality digital EPS file that can be imported by leading publishing software.
RepliDot’s key features include:
Automatic Calibration
Automatic calibration is used when you want to calibrate a certain imagesetter’s output to your existing scanner or to calibrate from major page-layout software printed films. This option helps reduce calibration time.
Manual Calibration
Manual Calibration is used when the film doesn’t include a calibration strip, thus allowing the user to crop known percentages areas and to calibrate accordingly.
ONCE YOU ARE READY TO PROCESS YOUR COPYDOT FILE AFTER CALIBRATION, YOU CAN PROCEED BY CHOOSING BETWEEN 2 AVAILABLE WORKFLOWS:
*Convert your Screened Films using Advanced Adaptive Threshold Technology
Through Advanced Adaptive Threshold Algorithm, RepliDot allows you to completely convert a scanned halftone film into a bitmap mode digital file taking into consideration the smoothness of vignettes and sharpness of text. The end result is a high-contrast, artifacts free, black and white image file of your separation films.
*Digital Descreening option for optimum speed and flexibility
Using a proprietary technique, RepliDot's Digital Descreening produces an editable continuous tone file from a prescreened set of film separations. This is done by digitally removing halftone screening patterns while preserving the details of the original film.
This image processing workflow enables you to apply at a later stage changes to the continuous tone image file like modifying the size, resolution or other output requirements.
Manageable Dot Replication for Improved Image Quality
This feature allows you to clean the background of your film and improve the sharpness of the processed dots, choosing from four degrees of sharpness: Low, Medium, High and Maximum.
Automatic Registration of Digital Separations
The digital film alignment process uses the four converted separation digital files to create a DCS set of files known as Copydot file consisting of:
• Corresponding aligned C, M, Y, K files, ready for output
• A composite EPS preview of the 4 films superimposed
All the above can be easily placed in your page-layout software to be used in a fully digital workflow.
