User manual

BodyguardXT will surely be a inconspicuous but far and away profitably tool for your daily work.

BodyguardXT is for the purposeful restriction of rights of the working with documents.

You can protect documents as runtime-documents. Then all rights of the single usergroups will be saved with it automatically. The documents can only be opened by these users.

The distribution to control the documents with the xtension is possible. Then the documents can be looked at and maybe printed.

Installation

BodyguardXTPlease drag the BodyguardXT-file into “XTension”- folder of QuarkXPress™ and start QuarkXPress™ again. To deallocate the XTension, please open the XTension manager and choose BodyguardXT and click on “About...”. Please fill in the keycode in the dialog “About BodyguardXT” and start QuarkXPress again.

To start the xtension the first time, you have to choose the file BodyguardXT User.prf in the preferences.

For the first enter, the admistrator uses the username “UserAdmin” and the password “PassAdmin”. Otherwise the xtension can’t be used.

It seems reasonable that the administrator will change the password in future.

TIP: For a central user administration, the file BodyguardUser.prf should be placed central on the file server, if possible.

Work with BodyguardXT

You find BodyguardXT in the menu utilities of QuarkXPress. If you click on BodyguardXT, the menu is opened. Here you enter the user name and the attached password.

If you click after the entering of the datas on log in, so the registration is done. If you click on close, the dialog is closed without registration.

Log in

If the registration is done successfully, the window BodyguardXT state is opened:

1. Line: Display, with which rights you are registrated.

2. Line: Display, if the current document is a standard document or a saved document.

This window is always so long open, if you are registrated.

Protect current document

With this function you can protect a document.So can only do the administrator or a layouter.

The protection is, that you can open the docuement only, when BodyguardXT is active in QuarkXPress.

Save current document as runtime

The document is saved and closed.

Deallocate current document

The protection of the document is deallocated. This can also only be done by the administrator or a layouter.

User administration

Here all user names were listed. And you can install new ones or you can edit or delete them.

Edit:In this dialog, you can enter datas of the users or edit them.Here also the rights were distributed: administrator

You put in the same password under password 1 and password 2. This is a safety control, if the password is entered right.

Preferences

Here you choose the preference file with the users.

Rights of the protected documents

administrator: can do all, every time.

layouter: can do all, every time.

texter:

• measurements is closed.
• document layout is closed.
• lists is closed.
•you can only enter text, or edit or delete it.
•geometry can’t be changed.
•other modifications of the settings (style sheets) or delete pages are not able.

Only view: The document can’t be changed, only you can look at.

View & Print: The document can only be looked at and be printed. A change is not possible.
