Badia Exportools XT 1.1 Users Guide
Introduction
Badia Exportools XT lets you automate the process of saving document pages as individual files in several popular formats, including EPS, PostScript, plain text, page screenshots and html. You can choose which pages to export (single pages as well as spreads), the rules governing the file names, and, if you wish, which program to open the new files in.
QuarkXPress 5 only: The Exportools options are not available for Web documents. To use Exportools XT, select Utilities > Badia Exportools:
Save Pages as EPS Window Allows you to save a set of pages as individual EPS files. The standard options for saving a single page as EPS are displayed. Please refer to the QuarkXPress documentation for more information regarding each of the EPS options.
Save Pages as PostScript Window Allows you to save pages to file. A PostScript printer must be selected in the Chooser for this option to be available. Some of the currently selected PostScript page settings are shown in small type.
Change Button: Allows you to change any of the page PostScript options bleeds, page orientation, printer description, etc. using the standard Print dialog. If this button is not pressed, Exportools will display the same dialog before saving the pages as PostScript.
Note: You should not combine the Save Pages as PostScript Exportools XT feature with others found in Badia Printools XT or any other printing XTension. The results may be unpredictable.
Single Output File: Select to save all the selected pages in one single output file.
Save Pages as Text Window Extracts all the text found in text boxes and saves it to disk.
Text Format: The same options for saving text from a single text box are shown. Please refer to the QuarkXPress documentation for more information about these options.
Box Order: Determines the box order in which text will be extracted from each page. The top-left corner of the box is used to establish this box sequence. For example, Left to Right, Top Down will scan boxes starting at the top of the page and going toward the bottom; if two boxes share the same Y coordinate, then the order goes from left to right.
Include Boxes on Pasteboard: Click to extract text from boxes located on the pasteboard as well.
Single Output File: Select to save all the selected pages as a single text file. When this option is selected, Exportools will add the line *** Page/Spread # *** between pages.
Save Pages as Screen Picture Window Allows you to save screenshots of each page or spread to file.
Scale: From 10% to 1000%.
Format: PICT file, JPEG file (QuarkXPress 5 only), GIF file (QuarkXPress 5 only).
Model: Color, Grayscale or Black & White.
Include Guides: Check to include page and spread guides as part of the screen picture.
Save Pages as HTML Window (QuarkXPress 5 only) Creates HTML files of the selected pages.
Use Web Safe Colors: Check to use colors that are optimized for Web display.
External CSS File: Check to place cascading style sheets (CSS) in a separate file.
Single Output File: Select to save all the selected pages in one single HTML file.
Page Area Select which pages you want to save. Page numbers must be sequential (not the section numbers). If the Spreads button is selected, spread numbers must be sequential as well.
Output Area Allows you to select the destination folder and the generic file name.
Specify Button: Click here to choose a destination folder where files will be saved. You must specify a destination folder before pages are saved.
Override Duplicate Files: Check to automatically replace any file inside the destination folder that has the same name as the new one being generated. If this option is off, Exportools will display a warning every time a duplicate file is found.
Generic File Name: Allows you to define how files will be named. Up to three name parts can be customized, and for each part you can choose: document name, page/spread sequence, section page number, a 3-digit serial number (starting from 000), the file type extension (for example .eps), or any custom text.
Note: The total file name length cannot exceed 31 characters.
Post-Processing Area Allows you to open the resulting files with any application you choose.
Open Files with: Click to turn this option on and off.
Select Application: Click here to select an application, or choose one from the pop-up beside this button.
Exportools saves the last 15 applications you chose, so you can switch back and forth between them.
Wait Until All Files Are Created: When this button is selected, Exportools will not open any file with the selected application until all files are created. Unchecking this option may result in certain files not being opened by the post-processing application, especially when saving pages is a lengthy operation.
