Reporter Functions
Reporter is used to give you a printable form of important information about your documents such as what style sheets are used and what parameters those syles use and picture locations, resolutions etc. This is often something which might be generated upon collecting for output for service bureaus and internal records.
THE REPORTER DIALOG
Use this dialog to select which reports you want to generate and how you want them to be made. Future versions will give much more control over content and formatting of reports. Also, future versions will allow you to generate limited page- based and selection-based reports.
Version 1 only reports on the entire document.
The Only if Used checkboxes will allow you to exclude certain items that are suppressed or on the paste- board from your reports.
Styles
Generates a report about styles sheets including important parameters such as fonts, sizes, colors. etc. First listed are paragraph styles and secondly, character styles.
Colors
Generates a report about colors in your document.
Pictures
Generates a report about pictures in your document. It includes important info such as the path to the picture, the resolution, color model and date modified.
Stories
Generates a report about each story in your document. A story is any discrete chunk of text which follows all links till the end of the text flow. Each story is labeld with the first few words from the story. Reports include word counts, paragraph counts and some other statistics.
Document Specs
Generates a report about the document such as where its saved, file size, date modified, etc.
Fonts
Lists all fonts used in the document and offers a few details regarding those fonts.
Combine reports
When checked on, this will cause Reporter to create one report that contains each of the separate reports, one after the other. When checked off, each report will spawn its own new document.
More Details
Each item listed in each report can include further details when this is on. Keep in mind that this can make the report considerably longer.
